Barrys Teapots at the Taste of Dublin

I was asked to scrawl all over a teapot along with some of my favourite artists for the Barrys Tea stall in the Taste of Dublin event in the Iveagh gardens last weekend. That's me poking out of Bren's jacket on the left.

I stupidly ate lunch before heading around for the shoot and there was tons of stalls full of awesome food. Whadda waste...

I'll stick up a photo of my teapot here when I get the proper shot.

Stone House Books wall print

I recently worked on a large scale illustration that's currently being printed and will be installed in a lovely new bookshop in Kilkenny called Stone House Books which opens next week just beside the train station. It will run all the way along the children's section in the shop at about 8.5 x 1.8 meters.

I'll post photos of the wall once it's installed, I think it's going to look ace!

Guardian Lisbon Illustration

I got a commission from The Guardian to do an illustration for The View From... section in the Saturday paper. I was traveling to London on the Friday so I had a frantic day sketching on the plane, taking photos of the sketches, mailing them from the laptop and then working on the final image in the hotel room. Very nerve wracking but exciting as it's my first commission for them.

So this is The View From... Dublin, based on the negative outcome of the Lisbon Treaty. As well as creating it on the go I was also on the phone all day to my Dad and brother Andrew scrounging for ideas as I'm a world away from being a political cartoonist. They both suggested lots of brilliant ideas which I submitted but this is the one they went for.

Candy Karaoke

My submission to the Candy Karaoke show that will be taking place in Monster Truck which opens on the 19th of June. The brief was to reinterpret a favourite record sleeve. There's 75 very talented people submitting so it should a pretty awesome show.

I have no idea where my I, Jonathan record is and was pretty sad when I couldn't find it so I had to use this awful jpeg I found on the internet as a reference.

Print Magazine scans

I was searching all over Dublin for a copy of this months print with my interview and couldn't find it anywhere. Just got this in the post from the lovely folk in Print. I'm over the moon to say the least!

I tried taking photos of the spreads but they looked brutal so here's some scans of my interview thing.

MINI Direct Mail

I just recieved a few copies of the Direct Mail for MINI that I worked on last Month with from Aileen in McConnells. I'm really chuffed with how they laid it out and the quality of the printing, it looks brilliant!

Here's a few photos of it I took myself, must get some proper shots of it done. If you click the images you can see bigger, clearer versions of them.

Self-Made Magazine

There's a great new free publication called Self-Made just out by the Dublin City Enterprise Board that's aimed at freelancers and self made businesses. I was delighted to be asked to do a short interview for an article inside. Here's a dodgy photo of the interview. There's a bigger version there if you click the picture.

Looks like a great line up. I was over there this morning there's a great sculpture exhibition on at the moment, I highly recommend a visit. You can eat your lunch in the sun to!

Wood Beasts

We were down in Glendalough the weekend before last and spotted a few more beasts skulking around on one of the walks we took over the weekend. These two eejits had stolen a fork from a picnic area and were curious about how electricity works...

This was going to be used as a poster for Maximum Joy but the gig was pulled at the last minute. Bren B had made an amazing start on the text so I'll post it here if he gets a chance to finish it.

Print Magazine European Issue

The new issue of Print Magazine, which is the European design annual, has just hit the stands. I'm really lucky to have been asked to be one of the featured members of the "12 Illustrators whose work you need to see" section.

I'll put up the full interview here with all my illustrations they've included when I get my hands on a copy of the mag. Here's a link to the online interview minus pics for now anyway.

Very exciting altogether!
